11 New Generators up and running to protect Water and Waste-Water Facilities against Load-shedding

The last of the back-up generators was installed at the Baardskeerdersbos WTW at the end of February 2024.

These generators are used at critical water and waste-water facilities to mitigate the impact load shedding has on the provision of these basic services.

The 11 generators were installed at the Mosselrivier SPS, Hermanus, Kleinmond Tennis Court SPS, Kleinmond Palmiet Raw Water Booster PS, Kleinmond WTW, Gansbaai WWTW, Pearly Beach WTW,

De Kelders Klipgat Spring, De Kelders WTW, Kraaibosch Dam Raw Water PS, Stanford Production Borehole and Baardskeerdersbos WTW.

The total project cost amounts to R11 826 362.26 (VAT incl), including the Municipality’s contribution from own funding as well as the money received from the Western Cape Government’s Emergency Municipal Load-shedding Relief Grant.
